We are organizing a series of summer learning programs in various parts of rural Japan this summer! Each program has different themes, learning outcomes, participation requirements and costs. Feel free to look through the program descriptions, pick your desired destination and enjoy an unforgettable and enriching summer with us!

Ishinomaki (Miyagi Prefecture)

Date: August 27 ~ 30 or September 3 ~ 6

Theme: Social Innovation in Post- Disaster Ishinomaki

Description: Learn about the social innovation created in the coastal city of Ishinomaki after being devastated by the world’s costliest disaster. During this program, you will learn first-hand from companies involved in creating innovative and positive changes in various industries and fields, ranging from fishing industries, craftsmanship to IT.


Shimokawa (Hokkaido)

Date: September 13 ~ 17

Theme: Sustainability in the Future- Oriented Forest Town in Hokkaido

Description: Learn about the sustainable use and innovative management of local resources in Shimokawa, the little forest town of Hokkaido. During this program, you will learn first-hand how Shimokawa incorporates its future-oriented vision of creating a self sustainable town into its tourism, energy policies and forest management.


Minami Ashigara (Kanagawa Prefecture)

Theme: Innovation Summer College (Sponsored by Fuji Xerox)

Description: Explore the possibilities of integrating permaculture into the town of Minami Ashigara in West Kanagawa. In this program, you will learn how to engage in discussions with the local communities and come up with concrete ideas how to introduce the novel concept of permaculture into the local region.


Tono (Iwate Prefecture)

Date: August 7 ~ 12

Theme: Innovation Summer College (Organized by i.club and Fuji Xerox)

Description: During the program, students will experience cutting-edge Innovation Education, as well as the local cities’ unique cultures. The program aims to teach students the skill-sets required for innovation, allow them to experience mindsets that are conducive to innovation, and to help them find the motivation they need to create innovation in the future.


Iki (Nagasaki Prefecture)

Date: August 4 ~ 8

Theme: Innovation Summer College (Organized by i.club and Fuji Xerox)

Description: During the program, students will experience cutting-edge Innovation Education, as well as the local cities’ unique cultures. Urahoro (Hokkaido)

Theme: Innovative Utilization of Local Resources for Revitalization

Description: Examine the effective utilization of local resources in Urahoro, a town in Eastern Hokkaido. During this program, you will learn from the actual players engaged in engendering innovation with design thinking to reutilize abandoned schools, and to revolutionize the local education system.


Seiyo (Ehime Prefecture)

Theme: Writers' Program

Description: During this program you will explore the charms and learn about the challenges faced by Seiyo city. Engage in discussions with local communities on how they can reevaluate and reutilize their resources to revitalize the region. Gain inspiration in writing a descriptive or creative piece for this beautiful city.
